Lori's Closing Letter for 2019
Dear Beloved Community,
I find it so easy to get ahead of myself, looking to the future moment in a way that can keep me from savoring the moment I am in. As I am finishing a meeting, I can start thinking about my next set of tasks, versus staying present to end the meeting well. At the end of the weekend, I can start to think about all that is coming up in the week ahead, taking myself away from enjoying the final hours of my Sunday.
Well, 2020 has the making of a potent year and decade. In my conversations with my team and many others this past week, the topic of 2020 kept coming up. As we feel the draw to look forward and around the bend, I invite you to join me in practicing staying present, to close this year and decade meaningfully, through the power of our intention.
My mentor, Angeles Arrien, taught me that when we complete well, we are also organically preparing the soil for new growth, new beginnings, an enriching way forward. So before we actually get to January 1, 2020, I invite us to bring our wholehearted intention to completing this year well, in whatever ways are meaningful for each of us. Enjoy each day and each exchange through December 31st, 2019. Wrap up projects and promises along with presents. Complete unfinished business in ways that are digestible and pleasant. Spend reverent and irreverent time with yourself, along with family and friends.
Let's offer the power of our intention to the fulfillment of this year, not wasting a drop of "now". We here at GRTL thank you so much for all that you have dreamt of and given shape to, so far, this year. We thank you for the quality and purpose of your presence. May you have a beautiful and nourishing close to 2019. It is a tender time of year. May it be a healing time. And in this way, may 2020 mark the beginning of a healing decade unlike any we have ever known before.
With love and deep regard,
Lori, Melissa, Dhruva, Tristan, Kate, and Travis
