Finding the Courage to Learn & Grow as a Team

“I was born to be alive in 2022—somehow I just know that, this year, the mystery is calling. I’ve been so inspired by all our clients' bravery to dive into the deep river of substance and not just skate on the surface of this inner work of leadership & transformation. I want to be courageous!”

– Lori Hanau, founder of Global Round Table Leadership

After reflecting on the big picture of 2021, we decided to look back on our learnings both as individuals and as an ensemble. We realized that last year was an incredible time of growth and transformation, and that a sense of renewal permeated our strategic consulting work with clients, our relationships with each other, and ourselves.

Even Leadership Consultants Grow & Learn

You aren’t the only ones on Shared Leadership Journeys™! Here at Global Round Table Leadership, we believe in being continuous learners year after year —as long as we are alive! Our coaching and mentoring process extends not only to our clients, but also to one another.

We found that communication was an important theme for us as an ensemble. Team member Tristan Toleno shares that 2021 reminded him “of the need to be less in my head and more explicit in sharing and engaging, early and often. I see this as a practice of nurturing the space for our collective wisdom to emerge, which requires disrupting old habits.”

Our own Melissa Whittemore also noted how communicating more honestly and openly “can really help up-level not only myself, but also the other person, and even the whole team.”

This past year also showed us how sharing leadership and power allows us to be flexible, resilient, and strong in the face of a changing environment. As team member Sebastian Mitre says, “We are more dynamic when we shift into co-learning. We become more successful doers as we become true collaborators. We are better together. There is no doubt about it.”

Our Leadership Training Program

As guides & co-learners of The Shared Leadership Journey™, we find ourselves endlessly inspired by our clients. It takes attentiveness and courage to know when it’s time for an organizational shift, and we’ve been so moved by their authenticity, bravery, and willingness to stay present even when the work gets challenging.

Our Shared Leadership Framework™ has helped The Masiello Group, one of the largest real estate firms in New England, shift their company culture from siloed “expert” leaders to co-creators. Beginning to practice sharing leadership and power has allowed them to establish a deeper sense of trust, more vulnerable communication, innovate outdated processes, and respond swiftly and effectively to a rapidly changing industry.

We love seeing their willingness “to step up and step in—to share responsibility, and remain open-hearted, curious, and honest—as they see, name, and celebrate the shifts in themselves, their teams, and across their organization,” as our own Kate McGowan puts it.

It’s a joy to connect and remember that we’re all on this journey together. Here’s to always doing our own inner work, individually - and as teams or ensembles - and to keeping on the path together in 2022!
